Collective nostalgia is a shared longing for what society used to be like. When people share a longing for a specific kind of world, if a large group wants to bring the past into the present, they oftentimes turn violent. But collective nostalgia can be positive. We need to miss freedom but not restriction, diversity and not exclusion.
