Two great contenders

Toward the end of the On the Waterfront, Terry finds one of his rooftop pigeons dead.  The anguished kid yells at him “a pigeon for a pigeon.” Brando spots Edie, waves her away and walks into the stairway. She follows and finds him sitting on the floor holding the bird. "Tommy did it" … and brokenhearted, she says “Why did he have to do that for?”  It was exactly what a friend of mine said forty plus years ago when I told her John Lennon was murdered.
