Summer of ’77 - Five of us went in on a house in Water Island out here … five hundred dollars each , which seemed like a fortune, $3500 for the WHOLE summer. What it costs me now for a week. I co-signed on a loan for a friend. It was the summer of Rock King E’s death and the great Black Out along the east coast. We didn’t have electricity so it didn’t affect us. A propane gas frig, kerosene lamps and I guess not much night reading.
So many years ago. Everyone alive, young and kinda unformed raggedy with everything ahead … makes me think of Dylans lyric …
I wish, I wish, I wish in vain
That we could sit simply in that room again
Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat
I'd give it all gladly if our lives could be like that
Who were the 5?
