morning music and memories

There’s something about Carly Simons early voice that is very singular and beautiful. Like she has a natural echo. Evocative of that word I can’t remember right now - that means nostalgia for things in the future. But memory too, when people were still alive and young and enjoying themselves in a world less harsh and wrong. Especially when she sings the American Songbook … I’ll Be Around, My Romance, like that.  I just listened to Linda Rondstadt when she was in Stone Ponys traveling to a different drum and I was in a Midwest dorm room hearing her voice for the first time that carried me along and stayed by me and my friends sides as our lives changed and changed again and again in the city. Singing birds with rainbows on our wings.
