I never notice mens shoes. But I noticed this guys … soft, slim, creamy brown leather. Looked very comfortable. light. As I was waiting for my glazed doughnut … I complimented him on his footware and asked the brand. Gucci. I thanked him and just now looked them up online. 1K.

I buy a small red cactus plant from one of the most beautiful young Japanese men I’ve ever seen. I leave the store and think … should I have told him you ought to be a model. As I age, I have to keep in mind … less is more - when telling and asking a complete stranger something.

Which doesn’t stop me from asking Sering - my bank person - if she wants kids. She’s 36 blond, Indian with great teeth and she likes talking to me at great length. She says whenever she sees herself in the future - she’s wearing great clothes and flying first class to some fancy place … but she never sees a man or kids in the picture. We discuss the difference btw lying and fibbing and before I leave I tell her she needs to water the cactus about every two weeks.

I feel like I’m in an Archie comic … walking round the nabe talkin to interesting peeps I know about fun things.

I show Larry in the deli my house at the beach and he asks about Fire Island property taxes.

I go to Old Navy and buy a t shirt and sweatshirt and S calls me and I walk home with him on my phone. I call Sonja and tell her if she needs help during the elevator fail, call me.

I  buy a great cast iron skillet.

Paul comes by with badly bloodied healing knees and asks me to come over for swordfish tomorrow night.

I talk with neighbor Samantha and am touched by her happiness at my 6th floor good fortune. Like I said ... like I'm in an Archie comic book.

I go to dinner in Gramecy Park at a Friend of the Farmer and Table … tasty and everyone was beautiful and it wasn’t even at a ballet. I asked Violet, P’s grand daughter - who is about to change/explode in 7 or 8 months - she’s 12 - but for right now - she still loves goofy and non contemplative . I ask her if she thinks its weird that her grand father brought me  back to the same place we ate at 6 years ago - when - after about an hour after we left  - I had a heart attack. She said maybe a little.
